University of Chicago’s Logan Center Names New Exhibitions Curator

The Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago has appointed Yesomi Umolu as its new exhibitions curator. Umolu will oversee exhibitions in the Logan Center Gallery as well as in throughout the multidisciplinary arts building.

Previously assistant curator at the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University, Umolu recently curated “John Akomfrah: Imaginary Possessions,” 2014—the first US exhibition devoted to the filmmaker’s oeuvre. She’s also been a curatorial fellow for visual arts at the Walker Art Center, and has held curatorial positions at Manifesta 8 and the Serpentine Gallery.

Jessica Stockholder, chair of the visual art department, said of Umolu, “Her experience and interests are international in scope; and her passion for the visual arts will contribute to the lively culture of the arts here on campus. I’m looking forward to working with her.”
