The University of Pennsylvania has announced that it will receive a historic $15 million gift from longtime donors Keith L. and Katherine Sachs in support of new arts programming.
The institution plans to hire an executive director, who will be appointed through a national search, to lead the newly created Sachs Program for Arts Innovation. The program will develop new courses, workshops, master classes, and other learning opportunities. It will also foster collaboration across Penn’s campuses, specifically between arts centers and academic programs, and will enable the university to host artists in residence. The program will he housed at the Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts.
President Amy Gutmann said, “Keith and Kathy are among the undisputed patron saints of the arts at Penn, and their latest extraordinary generosity will transform how we understand, teach, and break new ground in the arts.”
