USC to Absorb Pasadena’s Pacific Asia Museum

The Los Angeles Times’ Mike Boehm reports that the Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena will soon be a part of the University of Southern California. USC will absorb over 15,000 works of art, as well as the ninety-year-old replica of a Chinese palace that has housed the museum. The friendly takeover was brought to the university as a possibility by the museum’s board in July. “We felt a partnership would better enable the museum to more fully realize its mission,” said the museum’s board chair Katherine Murray-Morse, who added that USC seemed a good fit due to its focus on art and Asian history and culture.
