Vandals Deface Anish Kapoor’s Versailles Sculpture with Anti-Semitic Graffiti

Vandals have spray painted anti-Semitic phrases onto British-Indian artist Anish Kapoor’s controversial sculpture—the second time his piece has been vandalized, according to the Washington Post. The offensive writing, in white paint, appears on the main structure of the sculpture as well as the rocks surrounding it.

Stationed in Versailles’s gardens, the 230-foot sculpture caused a scandal earlier this year when the artist hinted that it evoked “the vagina of the queen” in an interview.

Saying that the new vandalism showed a “fascist vision of culture,” France’s culture minister Fleur Pellerin promised that officials would go after the perpetrators.
