Wadsworth Atheneum Names New CEO and Director

Starting February 1, 2016, Thomas J. Loughman will begin his appointment as new CEO and director of the Wadsworth Atheneum, says Hannah Ghorashi of Artnews. Loughman is currently at the Clark Art Institute as the associate director of programming and planning, where he has been for seven years. Prior to Clark, Loughman held posts at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Phoenix Art Museum. Loughman is replacing former CEO and director Susan L. Talbott, who raised $33 million for the Wadsworth’s renovation.

The president of the Wadsworth’s board of trustees Henry R. Martin says, “The Wadsworth Atheneum is now extremely well positioned to exhibit and interpret its world-renowned permanent collection. The strategic and programming skill sets that Tom brings to us, along with his global perspective and experience, are perfectly aligned with this goal.”
