Tages Anzeiger’s Daniele Muscionico reported that Swiss curator, art dealer, critic, and publisher Walter Keller passed away two days ago. Keller was the cofounder and publisher of Parkett. In 1993 founded the photography book publishing house Scalo Editions. That same year, he joined forces with George Reinhart and Urs Stahel in what Muscionico describes as his “most courageous act”: the founding of the Fotomuseum Winterthur, where Keller served as the president of the foundation’s board. He also founded Galerie Walter Keller in Zurich, and served as editor in chief of German culture magazine DU. As a curator, he organized shows at the Langhans Galerie Praha, in Prague, the Museo di Arte Moderna e Contemporanea di Trento e Rovereto, and the Swiss National Museum in Zurich.
Reached by Tages Anzeiger, artist Paul Graham said that it was thanks to Walter Keller that the world grew open to photography.
