I MET DON JUDD in 1963 when I opened the Pace Gallery at 9 W. 57th Street. It was next door to the Green Gallery, where Don first showed his work. In his interdependent roles as artist and critic he was extraordinarily generous. His work extended my perception of the definition of sculpture, and as a critic and friend, he encouraged me to show artists as varied as Bob Irwin and Lucas Samaras. His voice remains in my ear.
