June 13, 2015–July 9, 1997

For “Angel, Angel,” curator Cathrin Pichler finds the inspiration for her title in a quote from Walter Benjamin: “Always behave in ways that will keep the angels busy.” The show of forty artists, part of the annual Vienna Festival, takes the angel as a figure bearing imaginative powers and as a metaphor for the “uncertain identity” explored in much contemporary art. Among those included are Louise Bourgeois, Helen Chadwick, Gary Hill, Inez van Lamsweerde, Bruce Nauman, and David Wojnarowicz. June 13-July 9
