  • Marijke van Warmerdam

    Malmö Konsthall
    St Johannesgatan 7
    November 14, 1998–January 17, 1999

Marijke van Warmerdam’s first one-person show in Scandinavia takes its title from a new large-scale installation, Who’s Got the Ball. It’s exactly this work’s sense of playfulness and speed that characterizes the artist’s oeuvre, according to curator and Malmö director Bera Nordal. Like many of her recent efforts, Who’s Got the Ball creates a sense of temporal infinity through methods of repetition—in this case a bowling ball inscribed “Nordal” endlessly knocks down a pin bearing the name of Malmo’s former director. Eight other sculptures, installations, and films fill out the show, one of the artist’s most extensive to date.
