    The sixth Biennale of Sydney, curated, as was the fourth, by Nick Waterlow, brought to Australia works by artists from 21 countries, including Chile, Cuba, India, and Papua New Guinea. About 25 percent of the participating artists were women. Four Australian aboriginal artists were represented, as was an aboriginal performance group whose work is based on tribal rituals.
