    This show outlined the most recent developments in A. R. Penck's sculptural work with a selection of 41 pieces. All were initially carved in wood and then cast in bronze. Although the original material of the pieces and their figurative quality at first suggest a connection with Penck's larger wooden sculptures from the late '70s on, their small scale more strongly recalls his “Standart-Modelle” (Standard models) of the early '70s. But these are really only weak associative connections, which, though they can serve as formal and conceptual starting points, should not be interpreted as preparatory
