    Alan Green is an elegant painter. Though not a Minimalist, he carries to a nice extreme the Minimalist intent to compel the viewer to examine—minutely examine—an object, which has been reduced to simple terms. The gambit is spatial. His paintings are medium in size, some taller than the viewer, some the span of the viewer’s arms.
