Andrea Fraser speaks with Artforum
New York and Los Angeles–based artist Andrea Fraser speaks about her life and art as well as her site-specific project Down the River, 2016, which is part of the Whitney Museum’s “Open Plan” exhibition series. An extension of her longtime investigation of institutions—also discussed here—the new audio work brings recordings from a correctional facility to the freshly empty space of the museum to comment again on an “increasing inequality in the United States.”
Organized by deputy director for programs and Nancy and Steve Crown family chief curator Scott Rothkopf, with assistant curator Laura Phipps, the work runs daily through Sunday, March 13, 2016.
