Sasha Wortzel, We Have Always Been on Fire, 2018
In We Have Always Been on Fire, artist Morgan Bassichis sings about the abysmal political present and the long histories of burning that we come from. A spell is cast conjuring Fire Island's queer ghosts into the contemporary moment. The film blends material shot in Cherry Grove during the summer of 2017 with found footage shot in the same location during fourth of July weekend in 1976.
